efficiencyUSA is the sponsor and workforce side of Green Home Club LLC. We help state programs, contractors, and coaches turn home energy audits into clearer next steps.

Our main tool is Green Home Predictor, a planning platform that organizes audit findings, homeowner intake, field notes, and contractor observations into a working Home Snapshot. From there, the tool helps create Review Findings, Contractor Workscope guidance, and a Budget Plan with planning-level cost bands.

The goal is simple: help more homes move from audit confusion to sensible action.

Why This Work Matters

Many homeowners get an energy audit and still do not know what to do first. Contractors may receive incomplete information, rebate programs may require documentation, and good projects can stall before anyone agrees on the next step.

Green Home Predictor is built to help with that middle stage.

It helps users review the home facts, identify missing information, think through sequencing, and prepare for better contractor conversations. It does not replace the contractor, the auditor, the rebate program, or required safety and code checks. It helps organize the work before money is spent.

What Green Home Predictor Helps Create

Green Home Predictor can help turn an audit or guided intake into:

  • A working Home Snapshot

  • Review Findings that explain what is known, missing, or uncertain

  • A contractor-oriented planning outline

  • Budget-oriented cost bands and price drivers

  • Questions to answer before final scope, bid, rebate submission, or installation

The platform is designed for practical review. Users can correct the Home Snapshot, add notes, and replace assumptions with confirmed information as the project develops.

For Sponsors, Utilities, and Workforce Programs

efficiencyUSA works with sponsors who want more audit recommendations to become well-sequenced projects.

That may include state energy offices, utilities, local governments, nonprofits, workforce boards, community programs, or contractor-training initiatives.

Our current model is sponsor-funded. Participating contractors and ambitious homeowners can use the software, while the sponsor funds outreach, training, support, and market activation.

A sponsor-funded pilot may include:

  • Contractor outreach and recruitment

  • Training on how to use Green Home Predictor in the audit-to-action workflow

  • Support for contractors, coaches, or program partners

  • Homeowner-facing education

  • Sample workflows, templates, and job aids

  • Program-aligned messaging around audits, rebates, sequencing, and documentation

A Founder-Led Approach

efficiencyUSA is led by John Horchner, founder of Green Home Club LLC in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

John’s background combines energy program experience, information systems, publishing, and homeowner education. In 2009, he worked with efficiencyPA, a residential home energy savings initiative in Pennsylvania, and helped manage the Pittsburgh-area beta test of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Home Energy Score software.

That experience shaped the basic problem Green Home Predictor is trying to solve: an energy score or audit can identify issues, but homeowners and contractors still need help turning that information into a practical plan.

Before returning to energy work, John built and managed national information products and online content systems like MeetingSource.com and worked in publishing at Good Housekeeping magazine. That background now informs the structure of Green Home Predictor: organize complex information, make it easier to review, and turn it into useful next steps.

Practical Technology, Human Review

AI can help organize the plan. Contractors, coaches, homeowners, and program partners still need to verify the facts, inspect the home, follow program rules, and make final decisions.

Why Training Matters

AI assists. Human know-how delivers the results.

efficiencyUSA pairs software with training. Contractors, coaches, and program partners need to know how to review the Home Snapshot, correct missing information, understand sequencing, and recognize when a safety, moisture, ventilation, electrical, HVAC, or rebate question needs further verification.

Green Home Predictor helps organize the plan. Trained people decide what is ready, what needs inspection, and what should happen next.

Pilot and Program Inquiries
